The William Aiken House | Charleston, SC (Payton & Emma)

[Written by Emma]

“Payton and I met in college, at The University of Alabama. I was in my junior year of undergrad, while Payton was completing his Masters. It was my last sorority date party of the year, and our mutual friends set us up. We instantly connected, bonding over our shared love of traveling and adventure!

That summer, while I was studying abroad in a hospital in Athens, Greece, Payton was backpacking around Europe. We had kept in touch and decided to meet up as our paths crossed in Greece. We had so much fun together and got along so well. It was as if we had known each other much longer than we had. On our first “date,” we spent hours together exploring the streets of Athens, including hiking up to the top of mount Lycabettus!

From there, we gave long distance a go, in the hopes it would work out…and luckily for us it did! After a year and a half of long distance, I moved to Atlanta, where Payton was living at the time - and the rest is history!

Several years later, while on vacation in St. Croix USVI, Payton proposed right before sunset on the beach, where he had set up a picnic and champagne! After our wedding at the beautiful William Aiken House in Charleston, we decided to settle down in West Palm Beach, FL, and can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together making more memories!”
