"When the weather forecast shows thunderstorms every day of the week, but spares your big day... that's got to be a sign, right? "I'll take it," I said! We all know that weather forecasts are hit or miss, so you already know that I was checking the weather app every single day leading up to the wedding. Alas, September 23rd arrived and everything in that day just fell right into place. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful and special day to get married!
We toured a lot of venues, but when it finally came down to it, we knew that 5226 Elm was the perfect venue for us. We wanted a place that could serve as a blank canvas, but still had some of its own uniqueness and charm. It turned out that this photography-studio-by-day slash wedding-venue-by-night was IT! We loved the koi fish pond in the center of the courtyard and the lush green garden in the back.
Now, a blank canvas can be great but it can also be difficult when you have a Pinterest board full of various themes that you've been pinning for years (yes, years...). But when you have amazing vendors like What's the Occasion and Poison Ivy Florals, you're in good hands. They brought our low-key chic and natural theme to life. When we entered the room, we were both in awe of what an amazing job they did.
Once the ceremony began, we were hit with a whirlwind of emotions, and venue aesthetics fell by the wayside. My main focus was Nick and once the doors opened, my eyes locked with his, my heart beat a mile a minute, and my smile stretched from ear to ear. I couldn't believe that I was finally walking down the aisle to my... HUSBAND! Nick's cousin officiated the wedding and composed the most beautiful synopsis of our love story. It may not have rained on our ceremony, but I can assure you there were waterworks running down our cheeks as we held onto each other's hands tightly.
September 23, 2017 will forever be ingrained in my memories, but will always be refreshed as if it were yesterday thanks to professional photography from William Martin Weddings and videography from Reverent Wedding Films. Two services that were at the very top of my list for things I NEEDED to have on our wedding day."
